Shareholder Proposals Increasing in Europe

ISS posted a blog entry yesterday about the increase in shareholder proposals in Europe here.
The total of nearly 300 proposals in this year's proxy season is an increase over last year of about 25%. If the trend continues, by the end of the year this could mean slightly under 400 proposals.

Most of the propsals are board related (nominating or removing a director, independence, age limits) and others covered issues of widespread concern, such as environmental, labor or human rights issues.
