Microsoft Monitor for Europe

A computer scientist from Britain has been appointed to monitor Microsoft's compliance with competition laws. He will report directly to the EU's Competition Commissioner in Brussels. The company will be fined for non-compliance. The requirement stems from Microsofts inclusion of its Media Player in the Windows operating system. The company is required to sell a second version of the operating system that does not include the Media Player.
